From scandal to casualwear
Sunday, June 25th, 2006This year the ’shocking and immoral’ bikini reaches its 60th birthday–though the Wikipedia entry says they were first seen at least a year earlier and possibly even in ancient Roman art. Created in the aftermath of World War II by a French automobile engineer, the manufacturer of these outrageous swimsuits had to hire strippers because mainstream models refused to be photographed wearing them!
